As a part of our academy we go on regular
trips with the children. This strengthens the ties
between the students and teachers
as well as provides our teachers with an occasional day of
strict fun. Recent trips include going to Wando
Beach and
Samgyupsal summer parties.
(Samgyupsal is barbecue meat wrapped in leafs with
Korean spices.)
Cheonansan Temple. In early 2006 two of our
teachers with a dozen students traveled to a local temple renowned for its water
resources. There the students swam in the lake, drank the water, and
played by the river that runs next to the temple.

Wando Beach. In July of 2005 four teachers and twenty-two of
our students went to Wando beach on the southern tip of South Korea. We
spent two joy filled days playing in the sand and surf, and one night at a local
Buddhist meditation camp. Everyone got to ride a ferry and some of us got
buried in the sand.

Bosung Green Tea
Fields. In the summer of 2004, three of our teachers and fifteen of our middle
school students spent the day eating green tea ice cream and experiencing a
Korean cultural tradition (the harvesting of the green tea fields).

In early 2004, Casey, an alumni teacher, with
three Academy students near Jeonju City hiking two of the
locally famous mountains.
